· Good understanding of the background of sericulture and tenements of the Khasi house plan. Attempt has been made to bring the focus of tourists from larger centers to smaller centers. Tourist footfall should have been considered.
• The site area is quite huge for a single-story structure. Site top view would have helped for explanation.
• The elevations and the 3-0 sketches bring out the modern and traditional aspects of the design appropriately.

Across the world, indigenous communities have been involved in some unique and celebrated craft production since time immemorial. One of such is labour intensive sericulture; an agrobased industry providing livelihood to a large population. This ancient craft varies from region to region and the associated knowledge is passed t hrough generations and is documented in the form of distinctively finished silk fabrics. In addition, modern production is environmentally degrading and has a detrimental effect on the associated built and intangible culture as well as the livelihood of the communities. The situation is further worsened due to the lack of integrated built environments and economic models which
combine all the processes at one place which could ensure future viability.

A neo-vernacular approach in designing the project has been used which could represent the community and helps maintain sustainability. The architectural language created for the project has been inspired from the cultural, physical and philosophical concepts of the community itself given t he sensitive site context. The project has been an attempt to
serve as model of process which should be followed while designing for such communities with high potential. Weaving patterns within the community are their identity in the world, which became the inspiration for incorporating  a cultural and heritage value, along with development of the Site plan for major part of the campus.
Architecture can indeed play a big role in making a difference and help these communities sustain. A careful, sensitive approach with regular community engagement needs to be
followed in order to achieve functionally optimal and aesthetically pleasing integrated models .
