Interior Fit-Out Site Checklist (From Practical Site Experience)
Hello everyone,
I would like to share a simple site checklist for Interior Fit-Out projects based on my practical experience in execution and coordination. This may help young professionals and also avoid common site mistakes.
1. Drawings vs Site Verification
Before starting any work, always cross-check drawings with actual site dimensions. Small mismatches can lead to major rework later.
2. Material Approval
Ensure all materials (plywood, laminates, finishes, fixtures) are approved before execution. This avoids delays and confusion on site.
3. Coordination of Services
Proper coordination between electrical, HVAC, and ceiling works is very important. Many issues happen due to service clashes.
4. Level & Alignment Checks
False ceiling levels, flooring levels, and wall alignments must be checked regularly to maintain finishing quality.
5. Vendor & Labour Coordination
Timely communication with vendors and labour teams helps maintain progress and avoid delays.
6. Quality & Finishing Control
Regular inspection during execution ensures better finishing and reduces last-minute corrections.
7. Protection of Finished Work (most important)
Ensure all completed elements are properly protected to avoid damage during ongoing work. For example, covering stair treads and risers with bubble sheets is good, but exposed edges remain vulnerable. It is advisable to use corner protection (e.g., cardboard or PVC corner guards of suitable size) along stair edges and other finished surfaces. This helps prevent chipping or damage from falling tools, materials, or site movement.
From my experience, most interior project delays happen due to lack of coordination and improper planning rather than technical issues.
